Welcome to the second in my blog series of ‘The Good Mood Food Review’. Here you can find out all about those restaurants and bars with feel good food and atmosphere!
Recently I was invited to write a review of Grilla, one of my favourite restaurants in Liverpool. I had eaten there before and fell in love with food so was delighted to be invited back.
Grilla is Liverpool’s answer to great Greek food. It’s so good that you’ve even got a choice of two locations Allerton Road and Hardman Street. I’ve only ever been to the one on Hardman Street, but you can’t go wrong with either location.
I’ve been to Greece a few times and I’d probably say Greek cuisine is up there with my favourite cuisines. I love Gyros, Souvlaki, Tzatziki, the list goes on. Grilla is one of the few British-based greek restaurants that live up to the real thing.
What’s also great about Grilla is the restaurant has a really homely vibe and is super ‘instagramable’ (that’s a word now isn’t it?), which gives all the more reason to visit!
If you’re a meat lover, this is the place for you! All the meat is cooked in-house on a spit which gives it that authentic greek taste. But vegetarians and vegans do not despair… there is also a range of fabulous meat-free Mediterranean options on offer too.
The menu is so vast that you are spoilt for choice and every time I go to Grilla I end up ordering something different as I eventually want to try the whole menu! If you know me well, you’ll know I have a huge passion for halloumi (yes, it’s a passion) so my favourite meal so far has had to be the Chicken Gyros although just look at the portion size – it’s enough for two really!
Another super-cute reason to visit this restaurant is for the FREE dessert. Yes, you read that right, free chocolate brownies for everyone. It’s a really lovely addition but actually half the time I can never finish them because the main and starter were so big!
If you’re thinking about heading to Grilla soon, make sure you take advantage of the following offers! More information can be found on their website.
- Monday-Friday 12pm-5.30pm choose a Starter and a Main for £10.80 – an absolute steal in my eyes!
- Lunch Gyros – you can get one greek pitta wrap for £6.80 served with all the trimmings and chips.
- 30% off ‘Mix Grilla’ for 2 on Mondays – a selection of meat on the spit with roast potatoes AND chips.
- 30% off ‘Mix Souvlaki’ for 2 on Wednesday – a selection of souvlaki with chicken, pork and sausages – yum!
- Tapas Tuesday – 3 for 12.80 – so many to choose from!
- 30% off for student takeaways – I wish I was a student still!
A reminder that I was given the opportunity to write a review in return for a gifted meal. I’d quite happily give my life savings to this place if they were to cook for me every day though!
