Don’t get me wrong, I have never been homeless but I have some very exciting news to tell you all – My search for a rental property for my boyfriend and I, is over!
So, having just finished uni, it’s a bit like, what the hell next? My boyfriend and I ummed and ahhhed over what would be our next step. Since finishing uni we’ve both secured ourselves jobs (as you all know I’m training to be a teacher). I also bought myself my first car, having passed my test 3 years ago but never needing a car whilst I was at uni.
The next obvious step was to find somewhere to live together but of course money was an issue. When you’re just starting out in life it can be really hard. We found that going for a flat costs a lot of money. Once I’d looked round a few and chosen this one we had to pay £240 application fee, to get credit checked and referenced to check that we aren’t in any financial difficulties and thank god we passed that stage and now have a move in date.
However on that move in date we have to fork out 2 months rent (as they require one months rent as a deposit). I feel fortunate that were in a position that we can do that, but it will be a squeeze and we will have to budget ourselves quite strictly once we move in. Of course then there’s all the bills we have to set up that will now be solely our responsibility. Previously we relied on our housemates in our student house to do most of that.
So it’s all change this summer for me. Before I move into this flat I’m taking a short break with family to Cannes in France. I’d love to hear all about what you’re up to this summer, comment below and let me know!
Oh and if you’re wondering what the photo is, it’s a picture of the communal duck pond that is on the same estate as our flat. It’s beautiful don’t you think?
